“Old Hand Dan”, as he’s affectionately known, is your best bet if you’re wanting to explore the United Kingdom with the unique insider knowledge that only Trafalgar can provide.
Q: Tell us about yourself and your passion for travel.
I’ve been at it now for many, many years so guess it must be in the blood! Most of my time has been spent in my own back yard, in which I take great pleasure in showing people around. I have spent various previous lifetimes as a highlander, Irish monk, Celtic warrior and a Nordic raider, so if you want the “inside story”, there’s not many better qualified! P.S. Please bring your own imagination and sense of humour.
Q: What would you recommend people always try/make sure they visit in the UK?
My home town is Bath, and naturally the thing to see here, because it’s the only one in the World, is the Roman Baths.
Q: Describe your favourite Authentic Accommodation?
Favourite Authentic Accommodation is the Lagan Hotel – it’s right in the middle of nowhere, with only the sheep, cattle and deer for neighbours. It has a family home atmosphere and cosy rooms. It really is a home away from home.
Q: What’s your own personal favourite place to go in your destination?
My favourite destination would have to be the west Highlands, because of the stunning scenery, dramatic landscape with its photogenic ambience and all steeped in history, only too easy to bring to your mind’s eye.
