The heartwarming new movie trailer for the Fred Rogers movie A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood has been released and Tom Hanks is “absolutely perfect” according to CNN.

Tom Hanks has played a lot of famous Americans over the years, including astronaut Jim Lovell in Apollo 13, Walt Disney in Saving Mr. Banks, Captain Richard Phillips in Captain Phillips, Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger in Sully, and James B. Donovan in Bridge of Spies. His next role is that of Fred Rogers, the TV personality from the long-running TV show Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.

In the teaser, schoolchildren sing to Rogers on the subway and we see Tom Hanks dressed as the children’s television host on the set of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

The film is loosely based on a 1998 Esquire article by Tom Junod, about the effect Rogers’ optimistic kindness had on millions of people – and the initially skeptical journalist himself.

Marielle Heller (“Can You Ever Forgive Me?”) directs the film.

A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood hits theaters in November 2019.
