Tilda Swinton named ambassador of popular K-beauty skincare brand
Tilda Swinton is stepping up in a new role - skincare ambassador.

The Oscar-winning actress will represent Sulwhasoo as the luxury South Korean skincare brand’s newest global representative.

Born in London and raised in Scotland, Swinton says she is a long-time fan of the heritage K-Beauty brand, in particular its First Care Activating Serum, available at Sephora.

“I think spirit and heritage are really beyond valuable. There’s really a reason to focus on things that don’t change because they never will,” the actress says.

The 62-year-old marked her new role with a series of short video clips and an upcoming cinematic short film where she explores the House of Sulwhasoo Bukchon in Seoul and showcases the brand’s hero ingredient, ginseng, long known for its beauty benefits.

The brand has pioneered its use to help reduce inflammation and the appearance of fine lines, strengthen the skin barrier and hydrate the skin.

Using bioconversion technology, Sulwhasoo’s ginseng extract uses a rare ginseng saponin (1g extracted per 1000g of ginseng) that is further concentrated 6000 times (Comparing the amount of ginseng saponin compound K, to the amount found in natural ginseng roots) to deliver powerful anti-aging skincare benefits.

Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum is an upgraded 5th generation of its best-selling skin revitalising serum.

In a statement the high-end, herbally-focused skincare brand owned by Korean beauty giant Amore Pacific, said it had chosen Swinton ‘due to her unique features, distinctive aura, and her reputation for taking challenges in experimental roles that transcend all genres and domains.’

‘Having her roots in Scotland, Tilda Swinton especially values the heritage that transcended generations to create who she is today. With this, she deeply resonates with Sulwhasoo’s mission founded on art and heritage and looks forward to solidifying this as the brand’s storyteller.’

K-pop idol and global superstar Rosé of BLACKPINK is the other newly appointed global ambassador Sulwhasoo’s. The star and Swinton each appear in short video clips explaining the brand name’s English translation — sul, wha, and soo are snow, flower, and beauty respectively.
