Prepare for the wonder and skill of Cirque du Soleil’s TOTEM, an organic world partly real and virtual inhabited by acrobats, actors, musicians and singers.
Written and directed by multidisciplinary artist Robert Lepage, TOTEM uses athleticism, comedy and visual effects to tell the story of the human species from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly.
The costumes designed by Kym Barrett are just as fanciful and include the glow in the dark cosmonauts printed with motifs from Mayan drawings.
More than 2 million people have been mesmerised by TOTEM, winner of the 2013 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Unique Theatrical Experience, since its world premiere in 2010.
TOTEM opens in Auckland for five weeks only on August 22.
