This Week’s Must-See Celebrity Looks

The cover star of MiNDFOOD’s December issue, Emily Blunt, ruled the red carpet this week in a billowing white gown. Blunt attended the world premiere of her latest film Mary Poppins Returns in a floor-sweeping custom-made  Yanina Couture number.

Aquaman star Amber Heard caused a furore in the fashion world at the film’s world premiere held in London. Heard took inspiration from her film’s character the sea queen Mera and wore a head-turning green and gold gown from Valentino’s Fall 2018 Haute Couture Collection. The look was accessorised with a couture bathing cap.

Take a look at Emily Blunt, Amber Heard and the other must-see celebrity looks of the week in the gallery below.

Chanel is Banning the use of Exotic Skins & Fur

Chanel will no longer manufacture products made from snakes, crocodiles, lizards and other exotic skins. The luxury French fashion house announced the decision earlier this week, just days before its pre-fall 2019 MĂ©tiers d’Art show in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Parisian maison cited difficulties in sourcing skins that meet the house’s quality and ethical standards as reasons behind the decision. “The future of high-end products will come from the know-how of what our atelier is able to do,” explained Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel fashion and president of Chanel SAS.

The move makes the Chanel the biggest luxury fashion house to ban exotic skins. High street brands including ASOS, Nike and H&M have already banned exotic skins, while luxury players including Gucci, Versace and Burberry are amongst the few that have ceased to use fur in future collections.
