This Week’s Best-Dressed Celebs

Our favourite A-listers were dressed to impress this week, with the 9th Governors Awards seeing all of Hollywood’s heavyweights taking to the red carpet. And while we could definitely see ourselves in Emma Stone’s white Louis Vuitton number, it was Jennifer Lawrence in a two-piece by Alexander McQueen that we can’t get enough of. Take a look at our other favourites in the gallery below.

The Beauty Brushes You Really Need

When it comes to applying make-up there is certainly no shortage of brushes to get the job done. But do you really need 20 or so different brushes in your beauty cabinet to create a flawless look? We think not. Here are the six brushes which we can’t live without.

Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush ($80)

There’s nothing worse than thinking you’ve aced your foundation application only to look at your complexion an hour later and find out your blending game has been far from perfect. Fortunately this favourite makes streaky, uneven foundation a thing of the past. Whether you’re a liquid or powder formula girl, this best-seller from Bobbi Brown blends and buffs to perfection.

Chanel Retractable Dual-Tip Eyeshadow Brush

It would be easy to fill your make-up bag up with handfuls of different eyeshadow brushes but why do that when Chanel’s dual-tipped wonder is all you really need? Designed to be used with cream and powder shadows, the round end of the brush is ideal for blending and applying base colours. Use the flat end of the brush for more precise, defined application.

La Mer The Loose Powder Brush ($115)

Finding a loose powder brush that delivers just the right amount of finishing powder used to be a difficult task, but luxury beauty purveyor La Mer has put an end to that. This soft, luxurious powder brush ensures your finish is flawless every time, simply adjust your application method for light to full coverage.

Nars Wet/Dry Blush Brush ($71 from Mecca Cosmetica)

Cream blush formulas are one of those beauty products we love but always find slightly tricky to apply and using fingers don’t always seem to do the trick, unfortunately. This must-have from Nars works with both wet and dry formulas and is smaller and rounder than regular blush brushes, which means more precise application.

Tom Ford Bronzer Brush ($190)

Faking sun-kissed skin is the only way to get bronzed these days, so a serious bronzing brush is a tool you need in your arsenal all year round. Get your head around the hefty price tag and you’ll be glad you invested in this luxurious Tom Ford beauty. Super soft and designed to pick up the perfect amount of bronzer, you’ll be glowing in no time at all.

Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Touch Up Brush ($65)

Blemishes and under-eye circles don’t stand a chance with all-time fave, Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Touch-Up Brush. Use this little gem after you’ve applied your foundation to cover up any of those imperfections that need a little extra attention. Just like its big sister, the Full Coverage Face Brush, it blends and bluffs flawlessly.
