This Classic Queenstown Hotel Has Been Given A Five-Star Makeover
Queenstown's former Nugget Point Hotel has been given new life following a multi-million dollar renovation, reopening as Coronet Ridge Resort.

The property has undergone an elegant makeover, transforming the boutique accommodation built in the 80s, into a modern luxury escape.

It’s a welcome arrival for the busy mountain town that has recently welcomed a number of wellness-tourism attractions, such as a floating lake sauna and hillside hot pools. Brand new Bathhouse Queenstown and The Mill fitness center are further drawcards for visitors and locals alike.

The neutral colour palette complements the surrounding landscape.

Perched above the Shotover River in Arthur’s Point, each of Coronet Ridge Resort’s 41 rooms and suites make the most of the area’s famous awe-inspiring scenery. Private balconies or patios look out over the river and across to the hilly mountain terrain.

Interiors have been completely updated by Furnz Group in a gentle, neutral palette with bespoke timber joinery and textural details designed to deliver a restful space that complements the local landscape.

Generous soaking tubs are designed to help ease aches after a day of adventure, be it walking, mountain biking, or hitting the nearby slopes.

The hotel’s refresh extends to the on-site Elevation Bar and restaurant that also makes the most of the river-side vistas, though lingering over apres-ski drinks and a glass of Central Otago wine fireside in the Library bar is a mighty appealing idea in the chill of winter.

As for dining, executive chef Dominic Dsouza’s is in charge of a menu informed with seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, creating a range of tempting dishes from hearty breakfasts to multi-course dinners.

The spot has always been a popular location with skiers and snowboarders in the winter as it’s one of the closest hotels to the nearby Coronet Peak Ski Area, just 10 minutes drive away.

The resort is located near the Shotover jet boating attraction and is next door to the Onsen Hot Pools, that also overlook the river.  The town center is a short drive away in one direction, with picturesque Arrowtown 10 minutes away in the other.

Each of the room’s balconies overlook the Shotover river.

If it’s relaxation your looking for, Coronet Ridge Resort’s original Roman-inspired day spa remains with a heated pool, sauna, outdoor hot tubs, fitness centre, squash courts and private cinema.

Signature day spa treatments include the three-hour head-to-toe ‘The Ridge Journey’ featuring full-body exfoliation, hydrating body wrap, a 75-minute full-body massage and facial using New Zealand-made botanical skincare by RAAIE and Corbin Rd.
