International travel has returned with full speed in 2022, and a new report has revealed which airlines are the best ones to fly with. The ranking, compiled by Airline Ratings assesses a number of factors such as customer satisfaction, safety ratings, age of fleet and environmental initiatives to pull together a top 10 list of the best airlines in the world in 2022.
Qatar Airways came in at number one, praised for its commitment to keeping critical long-haul routes running amid pandemic restrictions, along with its “innovation, product and industry leadership.”
Aotearoa’s national carrier, Air New Zealand, which recently unveiled a new suite of ‘world-first’ cabins, came in at second, impressing customers for having the best premium economy service in the world.
“Air New Zealand punches way above its weight,” said AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas. “In so many ways it has set the standard for airline excellence over the past 15 years. Its Premium Economy is just superb and the benchmark in the industry and without doubt the best value in the sky.”
For the Best First Class experience and Best Lounge, Singapore Airlines was the top pick, while Virgin Australia won Best Cabin Crew and Best Inflight Entertainment went to Emirates.
