Often this planning will include a shake-up of their usual health and fitness routine just to keep things interesting.
So with that in mind, we have asked some of Australia’s leading fitness experts for their predictions on what will reign supreme when it comes to workouts in 2025.

Infrared Pilates
Pilates is the fastest-growing market in the fitness industry, and it makes sense given the popularity of lower-impact workouts that get some serious results. However, as with all things, people like to change things up. Enter infrared pilates, which is a workout I rate.
Research shows that infrared heat may improve circulation, reduce muscle soreness and promote flexibility. Additionally, it is often associated with detoxification through sweating, which can also be great for the appearance of your skin. An infrared pilates workout is usually done in a shorter timeframe of around 30 minutes, as you can get the same results from an hour-long workout in half the time, making it a huge win for those who have time constraints. By pairing a pilates workout with infrared heat you are getting more bang for your buck.
Running
This may sound simple, but it is not a trend that is going away anytime soon, especially now that the Sydney Marathon has made it onto the Abbott World Marathon Majors series. Running is an incredible full-body workout. It can be great for stress reduction, mindset, grit and endurance too. If you sign up for a run club, the community is often engaging, which is also great for your social life, and there are events all around the world, just to give you one more reason to travel. If you are not yet ready to run a marathon, there are shorter events you can sign up for. There are also events such as the Real Insurance Sydney Harbour 10k & 5k which is a great event on a flat course so it’s a good place to start.

Fitness with the experience in mind
There is no doubt that many millennials and Gen Z keep the experience in mind when it comes to the activities they choose to spend their money on, and fitness is no different.
Workouts such as Rumble Boxing and CycleBar have changed the game when it comes to workouts that garner serious results but also offer a unique experience that keeps members coming back for more. From dim lighting to DJ-curated playlists, engaging instructors and screens you can follow along with, they have made the experience memorable but also non-intimidating. Workouts that are welcoming and engaging will likely be a massive crowd-pleaser in 2025.

Stretching with purpose
There has been a lot of misinformation circling social media for several years regarding stretching and mobility. However, one thing is certain. Many of us are doing stretching and mobility for the sake of it and with no purpose in mind, so 2025 is the year we need to change that.
Working on your flexibility and mobility is essential for helping you perform at your best, helping you stay limber and, of course, reducing your risk of aches, pains and injury. However, to succeed, you need to get specific on what movements matter to you, and like with any gym routine, you also need to progress your routine.
That is why 2025 will be the year of stretching with purpose. Programmes such as Stretch Yourself Strong have been developed to help people learn the science behind stretching, how to do it with purpose, and how to progress in their routine to ensure they don’t plateau.
