Prince William celebrated in private on his actual birthday at Kensington Palace with the Duchess and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
To mark the day, Kensington Palace shared three images of the Prince, including recent images of the royal selling copies of The Big Issue in support of the homeless communities.
He appears on the cover of this week’s issue, and shares “I have always believed in using my platform to help tell those stories and to bring attention and action to those who are struggling.
Earlier this month, we joined together for a very special hour selling the @BigIssue on the streets of London.

“I plan to do that now I’m turning 40, even more than I have in the past. So, for my part, I commit to continue doing what I can to shine a spotlight on this solvable issue not just today, but in the months and years to come.
“And in the years ahead, I hope to bring George, Charlotte and Louis to see the fantastic organisations doing inspiring work to support those most in need – just as my mother did for me.”
The royals are known for celebrating birthdays in a big way. One such lavish bash was the Dance of the Decades party at Windsor Castle in June 2000 to celebrate Prince Andrew’s 40th birthday, Princess Anne’s 50th, Princess Margaret’s 70th and Prince William’s 18th.
And it looks like Prince William’s 40th will be no different. After his wife’s 40th party was cancelled in January due to COVID-19, reports suggest the Queen will celebrate both the Duke and Duchess’ birthdays together.
Windsor Castle or at Sandringham Estate have been suggested as the location for the party which will take place in late Summer.
