“As a successful Commonwealth Games draws to a close on the Gold Coast, I send my congratulations to all those involved”, she wrote. “I hope the friendship and concord that brings the spirit of the Commonwealth alive will continue to encourage everyone to strengthen the bonds that unite us all, as we look forward to the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.”

Overall, Australia came first on the medal table with 198 medals in total, 80 of which were gold. New Zealand came in at fifth place, with a total of 46 medals.
