That’s exactly what appears to be in motion, as the influential style set brings back the very-short do.
Everyone was talking about Emma Stone’s new crop as she walked the red carpet at the 2025 Golden Globes. Although her natural hair colour is actually dark blonde, the actress is known for keeping it a rich copper colour, often worn in glam ‘old-Hollywood’ styles for big events.
So it was a surprise when the star stepped out with an ultra-short pixie cut for the first big awards ceremony of the year. Her hair was shiny, coloured deep chocolate brown with a hint of red, and gently styled.
Reports say the short look may be for a role, as Stone has been recently working on ‘Bugonia’, her latest film with Yorgos Lanthimos.
“It’s been growing out, and it’s looking so stunning — very ’90s in that nostalgic way,” Mara Roszak, Stone’s longtime hairstylist, told Allure of her Globes look.
While it may be related to her work, experts say very short cuts are definitely trending, and with Stone and other stars like Emma Corrin, Brie Larson, Zoe Kravitz and Iris Law also loving the look, a new wave is on its way.
The good news is, the style is being worn in different ways. The ‘Bixie’ trend showed us how to adapt it to a slightly longer length and now comes word of new adaptations.
The ‘mixie’ is a mullet-pixie amalgam that gives lots of soft texture combined with slightly longer back section, while the curly-pixie works well on natural curls and coils cut close to the head.
