The Must-See Looks from Zimmermann’s New York Fashion Week Show

New York Fashion Week has kicked off for another year and we’ve already seen plenty of covetable wardrobe inspiration paraded down the runway. Australian luxury fashion house Zimmermann sent a plethora of uber-feminine looks down the runway that we are sure to be dreaming about for months to come.

Zimmermann designer and co-founder Nicky Zimmermann explained that the spring/summer 2020 collection titled ‘Wavelength’ was inspired by her days spent at Taren Point Public School in South Sydney. The designer said it was the days at the end of the school year when exams were all finished and kids were allowed to watch a movie in the last few days before school broke up for summer. It was the iconic Bruce Brown surf documentary Endless Summer the was of particular inspiration to Zimmermann.

Gucci Makeup is Coming to Auckland

If you’re like us, you’re counting down the days until Auckland’s very first David Jones opens its doors in Newmarket.  Now there’s even more reason to be excited about the opening as it has been revealed that the new David Jones will see Gucci Makeup introduced to New Zealand.

While Gucci Makeup was officially launched back in 2014, the fashion house’s beauty offshoot quietly petered out by 2016. But earlier in the year, the house announced that Gucci Makeup would make a bold return thanks to the brand’s creative director, Alessandro Michele.

At the centre of the announcement was, in true Michele and Gucci style, a much-talked-about campaign that challenged the perceptions of beauty. “The idea of the campaign is to create a representation that is close to reality with a humanized point of view, however seemingly strange. But the strangeness is human so it’s beautiful,” explains Michele. “The shots by Martin Parr are like bullets; they are direct, dry, and then they are inclusive because these women are wearing makeup in a very liberating way,” he adds. His message is authentic beauty lies in imperfection – no over the top Photoshop here.

Gucci Makeup

And while a lipstick-only launch might seem like a rather reserved move, Gucci Makeup is giving users not one but three different lipstick formulations. The Rouge à Lèvres Satin – a beautiful satin-finish lip colour – the sheer Rouge à Lèvres Voile and Baume à Lèvres, which gives lips just the slightest hint of colour. Besides, you can guarantee that Michele and his team will have more Gucci Makeup launches up their sleeves.

Gucci’s three new lipstick collections are available from David Jones Newmarket from 1 November, 2019.
