The MiNDFOOD guide to the best scented candles

Marie Antoinette by Cire Trudon

Cire Trudon

The oldest candlemakers in the world today, Cire Trudon has been in the business of la bougie since 1643. Famous for the intriguing fragrances within their signature collection, the company also creates candles in the form of wax busts of historical figures.

A very good friend paid an eye-watering amount for a Marie Antoinette one that she gifted to me with the words, “For goodness sake, please don’t light this.”

Reggio by Cire Trudon

Cire Trudon

A beautifully uplifting citrus smelling candle, having Reggio gently wafting through my home never fails to put a smile on my face.

Rose Quartz by Opal & Sage

@opalandsagenz, Instagram

I was given Rose Quartz Opal & Sage friendship candles with crystals for my birthday and I absolutely love them. I’ve even put one in my wardrobe, unlit, and the smell is still incredible.

Gabriel by Cire Trudon

Cire Trudon

With so many goodies out there it’s hard to pick an all-time favourite, but once you light a Cire Trudon candle it’s hard to look back. My current go-to is Gabriel which originally started out as a limited-edition Christmas scent.

Forget about cliche notes of pine needles – this is a chic French take on the festive season that deserves to be lit no matter what time of the year it is with its warm notes of cashmere, cedar, birchwood and a dash of candied chestnuts.

Blood Orange and Grapefruit by Canningvale

Canningvale

My favourite at the moment is Canningvale’s Blood Orange and Grapefruit scent. Beautiful fresh scent, and perfect to keep my house nice and cosy on these dreary winter days.
