“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” has been revealed as the theme for next year’s Met Gala and Costume Institute exhibition.
According to The New York Times, the exhibition will create a conversation between fashion and the masterworks of religious art in the museum’s holdings. Around 50 or so garments and accessories will be on loan from the Vatican, alongside over 100 designer garments which have been inspired by Catholic iconography.
The annual charity ball, which is hailed as one of the biggest events in the fashion world’s calendar, will be co-hosted by Amal Clooney, Rihanna and sponsor Donatella Versace.
“Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” is 10 May to 8 October, 2018.
