Or at least that’s the enthusiasm Zendaya has brought to recent promotional tours for her films. The actress, 29, has become known for her thematic dressing, from tennis drama Challengers, to bridal-inspired attire for The Drama and futuristic film Dune, donning looks that match the character she portrays.
Her latest is no different, with Zendaya drawing directly from her character of goddess Athena, as she takes part in the extended press tour for Christopher Nolan’s new cinematic adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey.
Zendaya joined film leads and co-stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson and Charlize Theron, in hitting London, Paris, Mumbai and New York for the film’s promotion and premieres.
While every star dressed impeccably, Zendaya’s looks certainly elevated the grand scale of the film the A-listers were promoting.
Zendaya reunited with long-time stylist Law Roach to deliver a collection of Grecian looks worthy of her role as the ancient goddess of wisdom and warfare. Sculptural shaping and dramatic silhouettes in an all-white palette from label such as Schiaparelli, Louis Vuitton and Jacquemus helped create a distinct visual identity that affirms the focus of the film. While the other actors involved choose to wear outfits more connection with their own personal style, Zendaya’s commitment to her art, and the art of fashion, is admirable.
That’s not to say the other looks on the red carpet weren’t stunning in themselves. Anne Hathaway showed off a different kind of commitment – of high fashion statement dressing while pregnant with her third child. Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron and other cast-members too, turned out in elegant, polished looks worthy of the grandiose action-fantasy film.
