The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are moving out of their London home and relocating to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor to raise their first child.

Kensington Palace has announced that Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry will be moving out of Nottingham Cottage and taking up residence in Frogmore Cottageon the Windsor Estate.

Prince Harry and his wife currently live in Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace, and it was previously thought they would take a spacious main apartment inside the palace in preparation for the arrival of the baby, due in the (Northern) spring.

Frogmore Cottage, a gift from the Queen to Harry and Meghan, offers a nursery for the baby and ten bedrooms, compared to just two at Nottingham Cottage.

Here’s what we know of the cottage:

It’s on the same grounds as Frogmore House – the venue of the couple’s wedding reception in May of this year.

Royal reporter Emily Andrews broke news of the move on Twitter explaining that Frogmore Cottage is “within the private Home Park and faces the beautiful grounds of Frogmore House. It’s where they had their private evening wedding party & where their gorgeous engagement pictures were shot.”

The cottage will need some renovations, as it is currently divided into five units as home to the palace staff. The Sun reports their updated residence will feature a nursery and space for a personal gym and yoga studio – which Duchess Meghan has been known to be an avid fan of.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said the costs of any substantial building work would be covered by the Sovereign Grant, which is ultimately funded by the taxpayer.

It has also been reported that the couple is keen to move further away from Prince William and Duchess Kate, who live in a 20-room apartment inside Kensington Palace.

The Duchess’ mum, Doria Ragland, is expected to be a ‘hands-on’ grandmother, and to stay with the Sussexes on a regular basis.
