Known as one of the Queen’s favourite days of the year, this time around, it was Prince William and Duchess Kate who appeared to be having the most fun at Royal Ascot with their public displays of affection.
Giving us wedding flashbacks at “Britain’s most valuable race meeting,” the pair joked around in front of the masses, only minutes after Sophie, Countess of Wessex lost her footing as she stood to exit her carriage (which left both her and Kate in hysterics).
The Queen herself also made an appearance later in the day to kick off the races. It’s a historic event that’s been held each year dating back to the early 18th century under the leadership of early monarch Queen Anne. Up to 300,000 spectators are expected to attend the races over the five days they are held.
The monarch also led a minute’s silence during the day in honour of the recent tragedies across the UK, including terrorist attacks and the devastating fire at Grenfell Tower.
