The Best of the #MetGalaChallenge

There was no red carpet rolled out for the most anticipated fashion event last year. Amid the COVID-19 crisis, the decision was made to postpone the 2020 Met Gala. But that didn’t stop fans of the event taking matters into their own hands and recreating their favourite Met Gala looks for the #MetGalaChallenge. Billy Porter, the actor who has gained a reputation for some of the most head-turning red carpet looks of all time, issued the challenge – which you can read about here.

Take a look at some of our favourite looks below.

How to Watch the Met Gala Livestream

The Met Gala as we know it isn’t going ahead this year, but you can still take a trip down memory lane and enjoy some of the event’s most fabulous moments.

Vogue is set to look back at highlights from previous years of the Gala with videos that will be streamed on YouTube, concluding with a special livestream to celebrate the Met Ball.

Named ‘A Moment With the Met’, the livestream will include an address by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, a live performance by Florence and the Machine, and a DJ set from Virgil Abloh.

It will broadcast on Vogue’s YouTube page at 6pm EDT on 4 May (10am NZT on 5 May).

“It would be impossible to recreate the gala on Monday evening, though I have loved hearing how so many are marking the occasion in their own ways,” Wintour said.

“So instead, I asked a few friends to join me for a simple moment—one that I hope will bring us all a bit of joy.”

In addition to ‘A Moment With the Met’, viewers can tune in for five other videos bringing Met Gala memories to life. They include Liza Koshy’s best red carpet moments, Naomi Campbell’s ‘Life in Looks’, a video explaining ‘everything you need to know about the Met Gala’, and Met oral histories featuring Cardi B, Jeremy Scott, Liv Tyler and Stella McCartney.
