With the seasons changing it may be time to tweak your beauty routine slightly.
A richer moisturiser or adding retinol to your skincare line up are great updates when the weather is cooler. Evolving your makeup to embrace slightly more coverage or adding a touch of blush to enhance skin that’s seeing less sun, are other options that are popular right now. Of course, a little pick-me-up in the form of a new lipstick is perfectly acceptable too!
We love the way products are becoming more multi-tasking, combining more than just one function, like makeup that is full of kind-to-skin ingredients. Lip products too, are more moisturising than ever before.
Hair tech is getting smarter and kinder to our strands, not to mention creating entirely new looks we haven’t tried before.
These are the new beauty must-have to try right now:
Dyson Supersonic r Hair Dryer
Dyson’s Supersonic hairdryer is one of our favourites, for the way it is light and gentle on hair, but it’s latest version, the Supersonic r Hair Dryer is a significant evolution. Shaped like its name suggests, it is 30% smaller, 20% lighter and more maneuverable than the original Supersonic but even more powerful, with sensors to deliver optimal airflow and temperature for shinier hair. It’s been used by professionals in salons for the past year, but now, us mere mortals can use it in our homes.
Haus Labs Triclone Skin Tech Foundation
Lady Gaga is back in the headlines with concert extravaganzas and infectious new dance-pop hits, but it would be remiss to not mention the Gaga news we’ve really been waiting for: the arrival of her makeup line in stores here. We’ve been clamoring to get our hands on items from Haus Labs since it became a beauty-lovers smash hit overseas. With rich pigments and dance-all-night performance on skin, it has gained rave reviews globally. Now, it has finally landed in Australia and New Zealand at Sephora stores and online. Make the Triclone Skin Tech Foundation and Foundation Brush, or the Color Fuse Blush Powder, your first purchases.
YSL Beauty Make Me Blush Bold Blurring Blush
If there were awards given out each year for best blush, we would have called a winner already. For us, it’s YSL Beauty’s Make Me Blush Bold Blurring Blush. Quite apart from the stunning case, the colours are flattering and look natural on, and have a gently smoothing quality that makes skin look even better. Swirl over cheeks with a blush brush for a touch of lasting colour.
Image Skincare Ageless+ Retinol range
Image skincare is a USA-based brand that has always impressed us with its scope and embrace of the most advanced (and effective) product formulations. They are lovely to use and get the job done, which is exactly what we expected of its updated retinol range and we haven’t been disappointed. It’s a step-up range in different formats and strengths which means there is a product for everyone, whether you’re an experienced user of the gold-standard, age-defying ingredient, or you’ve never used it before. The formulations are created with the brand’s own OSM technology that enhances the performance of the retinol, while encapsulated antioxidants—ectoin, vitamin C, and astaxanthin-rich micro-algae—help reduce redness and irritation.
kit: Facial Cupping Tool
If you’re looking for the latest beauty tool to level up your skin game, try kit’s Facial Cupping Tool. It’s based on the popular alternative therapy treatment that releases tension and toxins in the skin on your body, only this is a far gentler version that is simply designed to stimulate circulation and reduce the appearance of puffiness on your face.
Elizabeth Arden White Tea Eau Lilac
Elizabeth Arden’s White Tea line is an underrated gem, with fresh, clean scents that are never cloying. The latest release, Eau Lilac, includes pretty lilac flowers with a touch of woods and musk, for a feminine fragrance that smells like spring, even when winter is only just starting.
ghd Wave Triple Barrel Hair Waver
Ever wonder how people get those beachy waves in their hair without the old-fashioned ‘braid your wet hair and sleep on it’ trick? Here’s how: ghd’s new Wave Triple Barrel Hair Waver, with all the tech the expert hair brand is known for (that off-timer is a life saver!) included in the new tool.
By Terry Rouge Opulent Lipstick
Love a luxe lippy? Here’s the latest you need to try. By Terry’s Rouge Opulent Lipstick has a ‘blurred creamy-velvet finish’ which is just a fancy way of saying its a moisture-filled modern matte that feels good to wear!
Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum
Most people are familiar with Clinique’s famous Moisture Surge moisturiser in the pink pot. Its light gel-feel and use of hyaluronic acid led the way for the popularity of gel-texture moisturisers years ago, and it’s still a favourite of ours. So we were keen to try the first serum in the line, Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum. We’ve been using for a couple of weeks and love the effects it provides, given it has a gentle exfoliant included to remove dull skin, as well as that hyaluronic acid hydration and Vitamin C to brighten skin.
Carolina Herrera’s Very Good Girl Elixir
The shoe design of the bottle can be divisive, but what we’re certain of is the delectable nature of the new iteration of Carolina Herrera’s Very Good Girl – this time called the Eau de Parfum Elixir. The fragrance follows this year’s trend for berry and cherry notes in perfume, here blending notes of black cherry and bitter almond with vanilla and cocoa, for the perfect after-dark winter scent.
Jo Malone London Wood Sage & Sea Salt Handcream
Jo Malone London has transformed some of its most famous and popular colognes into luxurious scented hand creams. Each gorgeously-scented cream sinks in well and includes hyaluronic acid and naturally derived glycerin for long-lasting hydration, essential at this time of year.
