Another week another beauty haul! Here’s what’s new in beauty that’s worth buying, according to our beauty editor.
The new season is inspiring me to refresh my approach a bit, so it’s good timing to see all these new arrivals.
Skincare is getting smarter all the time with new molecules and peptides extending the abilities of products like moisturiser and serums, helping target challenges we haven’t had much success with yet. We still need important ingredients such as retinol and vitamins C & E, these new arrivals are additional helpers, not replacements for proven favourites.
Makeup is in its easy-as-pie era, with stick and swipe-on formats in abundance. Good makeup brushes will always help with a professional-looking finish, but if you don’t want to go to that effort, new products are just as simple to use with your fingers.

Jo Malone London Sea Salt & Bergamot Cologne
Even though (or perhaps because of?) many of us – 65% of NZ’s population, according to Stats NZ – live within 5kms of the coast, there’s a lingering sense of romantic nostalgia around the salty sea air.
It’s this feeling Jo Malone London is leaning into for new release perfume Sea Salt & Bergamot Cologne. The British fragrance house has had a long-standing hit on its hands with the chic, windswept Wood Sage & Sea Salt and now its taking a brighter, breezier route with the new release. The freshness of bergamot is combined with mineral notes – that familiar sea air we all know and love.
Makeup By Mario Soft Shimmer Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow
We are obsessed (obsessed!) with cream eye shadows. Whether they come in a stick, a pot or a wand, they’re far easier than powders and this is a hill we’re prepared to die on. You simply dab on, and blend in with your ring finger or a fluffy eye brush. Makeup By Mario always has pro-performance formulas that blur out like a dream, so we’ll aways snap up his newbies.
Dermalogica Smart Eye Density
The undereye area can be like a neon billboard for aging – or at least it feels like it. The skin in this area is prone to shadowy dark circles, sagging and a loss of density and can be tricky to address. Dermalogica has picked up the banner, developing a new undereye treatment to help. The main hero is a growth factor complex, skin-rebuilding molecules that help signal skin to help rebuild density and volume where its applies. It also has two types of hyaluronic acid for plumping volume and hydration and other plant extracts to nourish.

Lancôme Absolue Longevity MD Intercept The Cream
The term longevity is already starting to feel a bit overused, but L’Oréal are one of the big companies putting a lot of money and energy into developing solutions to keep our skin healthy for longer. It’s the parent company of Lancôme, and often chooses the luxe skincare line to launch many of its formula innovations. So we welcome the Absolue Longevity MD Collection, a collection of five products that aim to treat the biological signs of aging before, during, and after they appear. This anti-aging moisturiser is designed for mid-age skin (35 to 55yrs), with the goal of boosting firmness and elasticity using the longevity ingredient Mitopure® (Urolithin A).
Pixi On-The-Glow Blush Tinted Moisturiser Stick
This one looks OTT now, but will really come into its own in summer. The blush stick is a bit of an unwieldy shape, so after swiping straight on skin the first few times, I ended up used a blush brush to dab the stick and then my cheeks. The bold raspberry hue is absolutely on the money for the fresh summer lip and cheek tint trend. It’s the kind of product we’ll take away on holiday and be the only makeup product we reach for.
