Taylor Swift has donated a staggering sum to relief efforts for communities affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton.

The star donated $US5 million to non-profit organisation Feeding America, who confirmed the donation with a post to their social media.

“This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms,” Feeding America CEO Claire Babineaux-Fontenot said.

The popstar has a history of making generous charitable donations. In December last year, she donated $US1 million to relief efforts following storms in Tennessee.

She is also known for giving money to food banks in cities where she has performed for her Eras Tour.

PEOPLE magazine reports the star paid out bonuses to everyone working on her stadium tour, totalling more than $US55 million.

News of the donation came shortly before Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida. The storm has destroyed homes as it has marched through the centre of the state.
