Academy Award-winning Kiwi filmmaker Taika Waititi has rallied together with some of his ‘closest friends’ to bring to life James and the Giant Peach.
“When I say friends, I think just mean celebrities,” Waititi says in the trailer series trailer which you can watch here.
Over 10 YouTube episodes, Waititi and some of the biggest of names in Hollywood will retell Roald Dahl’s classic to raise money for Partners In Health and those working on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19.
The global health non-profit was founded by Roald Dahl’s daughter, Ophelia Dahl, to help bring the benefits of modern medical science to those in need. The Roald Dahl Story. Co announced that they would match donations up to $1 million and the company recently donated $1.3 million to Partners in Health to help fund maternal healthcare in Sierra Leone.
The star-studded line-up that will join Waititi over the coming weeks includes the likes of Cate Blanchett, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cara Delevingne, Chris Hemsworth, Liam Hemsworth, Mindy Kaling, Lupita Nyong’o, Sarah Paulson, Gordon Ramsay, Eddie Redmayne, Ryan Reynolds and Meryl Streep.
