STYLE gift guide: Stylish and thoughtful Christmas gifts

STYLE gift guide: Stylish and thoughtful Christmas gifts
If you're making a list and checking it twice, we can relate. We're here to help!

Choosing just the right Christmas gifts can occupy a lot of mental space this time of year and that’s when you’re not thinking about meeting work deadlines, planning family movements and activities or considering the perfect menu for Christmas Day!

If you’re still pondering what to get your loved ones, we’ve put together some great suggestions for luxurious and beautiful gifts that are topping the wish-list this year.

A perfume that’s both a classic, and a new arrival is ideal. Chloe has a beautiful new update to it’s much-loved perfume line up in Chloé L’Eau de Parfum Intense. It’s elegant and confident, a fruity floral with vibrant, juicy raspberry notes, sensual rose and warm, soft wood notes in the base. Burgundy bags are the most-wanted hue this season, and if you’re buying for a fashion lover, there will be shrieks of delight on receiving Gucci’s Jackie Notte mini bag in the brand’s quickly becoming iconic Rosso Ancora hue. A similar shade, to be used in the kitchen instead, is the show-stopping Le Creuset Cast Iron Oval Casserole Dish. A classic dish that will last for decades is hard to resist in this fabulous colourway.

If you’re buying jewellery as a gift, a classic item that has remained desired for decades is a good bet. Tiffany & Co.’s Elsa Peretti Bone Ring is a stunning spin-off of the jewellery house’s famous bone cuff, created 50 years ago and still a best-seller. The chic yet sensuous shape  in ring-form comes in either silver or gold. Locally made ceramics are a great idea for someone that loves unique decor. We love Gidon Bing Bulb Vases and any of the ceramist’s other pieces with the bone crackle finish – there’s even a beautiful bird house. SOPHIE’s crochet hat is a playful – and easily packable – summer essential that will get a lot of use.

Know someone that is always attached to their water bottle? Karen Walker has extended its whimsical filigree design to a range of desirable gift items this season, but we think this leather bottle holder and bottle is a stylish way to carry a drink bottle on the go. Men are sometimes hard to buy for but this R.M. Williams belt gift set is a great option, as it allows the wearer to mix and match the style to suit what they are wearing. Kowtow’s Marine Totewill make summer jaunts to the beach or the shops easy with a perfectly on-trend colour scheme in cotton denim.

It’s fair to say these Deadly Ponies mini bags have been seen on the arm of the most stylish women, out and about this year! The bag hooks over the arm and isn’t too big or too small – one that will be reached for constantly in the year ahead. If we had to pick one we’d go with the pleated Mr Cinch Mini. Hair accessories are everywhere right now, and Maggie Marilyn has responded in a perfectly refined way, with this Maggie Marilyn Headband that also comes in cream. A Bronze Stationery Holder by Henry Wilson is a desirable choice for anyone that loves organisation of letters, reminders and other office clutter.

Cashmere is always a great idea. If you’re not confident on gifting a larger piece (if you are, may we suggest a red cardigan?), we know so many people that would love to receive these divine Elle & Riley cashmere socks. The warm and breathable blend is great year-round. Hublot watches mix practicality, style and a touch of hot-right-now watch trends. Most-wanted this season, especially for a tennis lover, is the brand new Big Bang Unico Novak Djokovic, created with a composite of the tennis superstar Novak Djokovic’s HEAD racquets and Lacoste polos from his Grand Slam winning 2023 season. Dog parents will not be able to get over Louis Vuitton’s gorgeous new doggie designs, including this Louis Vuitton Dog Bowl. There’s also a Dog Beret (yes, really!), Collar, Leash and more.

If long afternoons regularly turn into leisurely evenings outdoors, lounging or entertaining, the BAYA Millhouse Linen Throw is ideal to keep off the chill. Rounded sunglasses are the most-wanted sunglasses shape this season, you can’t go wrong with a luxe pair like these from Celine, Miu Miu or Prada. For a showstopping gift they’ll go gaga for, try the Bobbi Necklace from The Diamond Shop.

Aesop’s gift kits are absolute winners for almost anyone on your list, but especially house-proud aesthetes and those that love a botanical skincare formulation. Our pick this year is the Aesop Screen 1 kit because it has the brand’s hits like hand cream in the cool metal tube, but also the surprising toilet deodoriser drops (that make people laugh but are actually quite unique and useful!) Khaite ‘s Lotus Bag is the choice for the person that likes to carry everything-but-the-kitchen-sink, but it will let them feel super smug, as giant bags are a must-have this season. Phone chains are becoming a popular way to show off your accessory style beyond jewellery or bags. This beaded Cantermelon phone chain keeps your phone close at hand.

Okay, hear us out, something that helps with chores isn’t the most romantic gift, but if you know someone that loves beautiful fragrance, making their clothes smell amazing is actually a great gift. Give them Ashley & Co’s Everyday Launder Laundry Wash.We can’t stop staring at these stunning Stories of Italy Macchia Su Macchia Flamingo Tumblers, wishing they were ours. A useful gift with a great background, Wallace Cotton’s Starship Victoria Sponge Tea Towel is part of a series designed by young cancer survivor Ruby Seeto who creates different designs every year, with $6 from each tea towel donated directly to the Starship Foundation. Plus, it’s super cute and ours have lasted for years.

Another universally desired piece is Van Cleef & Arpels clover-shaped Alhambra design, here in Van Cleef & Arpels Vintage Alhambra Reversible Ring that can be worn on the brilliant blue side or gold, set with a diamond. Ralph Lauren’s Thorpe Ice Bucket and Tongs from Trenzseater is a great pick for the home entertainer, or to finish off a beautiful bar cart and Camilla & Marc’s Laurel Leather Sandals have a cool origami-like design that makes them stand out from the season’s other slides and sandals.
