Stolen Girlfriends Club has been an important part of the New Zealand fashion landscape since its inception in 2005.
Early ranges focused on edgy streetwear with a youthful, rebellious spirit, shared with the world via raucous fashion shows and infamous parties designed to appeal to dedicated followers.
While that spirit has remained, the brand has pivoted slightly in recent times, largely focusing on its range of bold silver and gold unisex jewellery.
Now, the brand has revealed a new showcase for the chunky ‘refined rock ‘n’ roll’ pieces in its collection, opening the doors to a new flagship.
The slimline space is situated in Newmarket’s Teed Street in Auckland, and features a stark, industrial style fit out designed to put a spotlight on its jewellery designs.
“It took time to find the right location and scale for this new chapter in our brand’s evolution,” says Marc Moore, Stolen Girlfriends Club Creative Director. “We wanted the store to feel more intimate, focusing on timeless forever pieces while offering a refined retail experience.”
Understated glass-top cabinets stretch the length of the space offering easy viewing of the jewellery, while a single wall rail serves to hang a small number of pieces of the brand’s clothing, which often includes unisex leather jackets, slouchy knitwear, printed tees and denim.
The reuse of the original raw mild steel wall creates a striking feature, setting the tone for the rest of the space.
“We love the authenticity of the raw steel and how it reflects the brand identity,” said Dean Murray from Alt Group’s design team that worked on the space.
The new store is open now at 2 Teed Street, Newmarket, Auckland.
