The Gum Wall at Pike Place Market in Seattle is set to be steam-blasted clean of the wads of chewing gum that have been stuck to it over the years.

The tradition began in the 1990s when theatergoers started sticking wads of gum to the bricks while waiting in line and has grown exponentially since to become one of Seattle’s most photographed “attractions”.
Officials fully expect the wall to reappear – they have already cleaned it three times.
