The legendary Kiwi band will perform as part of the popular music festival Electric Avenue, held in Christchurch’s Hagley Park across two nights, February 27 and 28, in 2026.
Split Enz will headline the first night of the festival, with Australian DJ Dom Dolla headlining night two. Celebrating the band’s 50th anniversary, the Electric Avenue performance will mark almost 20 years since they last performed together.
The festival will also play host to a packed lineup of international acts including pop singer Kesha, drum and bass group Pendulum, UK band The Streets, British acts Basement Jaxx and Leftfield, UK chart-topper Becky Hill, plus two breakout stars at Coachella this year – Sammy Virji and Disco Lines.
Split Enz formed in 1972 in Auckland and became known for their distinctive blend of art rock, new wave, and pop, as well as their theatrical stage presence and out-there costumes. Brothers Neil and Tim Finn were key members of the band, that underwent a number of lineup changes over the years.
They were the first NZ band to achieve major chart success in both Australia and the UK, paving the way for other Kiwi musicians on the world stage. The band’s biggest hits included the songs “I Got You” Split,” “Six Months in a Leaky Boat” and “History Never Repeats.”
