Spanish photographer Balint Alovitis is a photographer known for his work based on spatiality. In his latest series, Time Machine, he photographs a sequence of spiral staircases, what he calls the “Hidden Time Machines of Budapest”.
The series captures these often-unnoticed architectural masterpieces from a different perspective, evoking the idea of an infinite vortex that feels out of this world.
Alovitis says, “It’s as if one was standing between two points in space and time, as space and time themselves lose meaning,” he wrote. “Getting lost in the shapes, the spiral, facing a portal that leads to another time, another place, perhaps another universe.”
As a photographer, Alovitis likes discovering unknown places, looking for the pure aesthetics and harmony in nature and the built environment, especially interiors.
