Six of the best high-protection face SPFs

We’re sure you know by now it’s advisable to wear SPF year-round to ensure the health and appearance of your skin. If you need some help finding one that fits with your routine, we’ve got your motivation. These SPFS offer improved texture or application approaches that makes it easier to apply and top up.

Here’s our line-up of worthy new arrivals:

Avène Sunscreen Aqua Fluid SPF50+ $22.99

Tiny but mighty, this pocket-sized ultra-liquid sunscreen is easy to blend over the face and while it goes on with a tiny bit of a white cast it quickly smooths away to a sheer finish leaving just beautifully hydrated, protected skin. It’s been created with a minimum number of chemical filters and with zero fragrance to benefit those with reactive skin and also contains antioxidants and Avene’s famous soothing spring water to leave skin in great shape. Don’t forget to apply 20 minutes before sun exposure, as with any non-mineral SPF.

Naked Sundays Collagen Glow 100% Mineral SPF50+ Perfecting Priming Lotion, $42.50

Each of the products from this new SPF sunscreen brand from Australia are worth checking out but it’s this mineral option that inspires the most raves. That’s because it’s a zinc SPF that blends well without leaving a heavy white layer and its texture leaves skin looking healthy and even a little bit glowy, a rare feat for a zinc-based option. It’s great for skin and eyes that are sensitive to traditional chemical sunscreen filters. It also has skincare benefits from vegan collagen and antioxidants from watermelon extract. Though the initial sell-out at Mecca only proves its popularity we highly suggest you sign up to be notified of its return to shelves.

YSL Pure Shots Airthin UV Defender, $103

Looking for a beneath-makeup SPF hero? Almost akin to skincare this divine, though pricey, number is well worth considering. The claim is that it feels 8x thinner than a classic UVB base which is a big call that is tricky to prove but just goes to demonstrate the textural prowess of this non-greasy option that also defends skin against pollution. It also contains niacinamide to help with maintaining smooth, even and clear skin.

Bondi Sands SPF50+ Fragrance Free Face Mist, $18.99

Makeup already applied but forgotten the most important step? Or simply looking to re-apply your SPF after 4 hours? Suncare and tanning stars Bondi Sands have released this handy fragrance-free face mist can be spritzed over foundation for transparent, quick-drying protection or to help you top-up an adequate layer of sun protection throughout the day. The brand claims this also delivers 72 hours of hydration while doing the hard yards of protecting your skin from UVA and UVB damage.

Dermalogica Powerbright Moisturiser SPF50, $137

Labeled as a moisturiser, this nonetheless contains a high protection SPF to help protect your skin and it’s great on casual days when you might be out and about or coming and going from work or the like.. What’s more, it’s loaded with beneficial ingredients to prevent and minimise pigmentation including Brown Algae to help combat oxidative stress caused by air pollution. It also contains the likes of safflower oil and hyaluronic acid.

Bondi Sands Sunny Daze Hydrating SPF 50 Moisturiser, $27.95

Proving that their hard work is never done, Bondi Sands has launched a skincare line called Bondi Sands Everyday Skincare, with a number of useful, affordable products including an SPF moisturiser, the brand’s only physical, mineral SPF for the face, made with zinc oxide. As with most other Zinc-based SP’s it’s formulated with what the brand calls a ‘universal tint’ to counteract any white cast on skin.
