Prep well
Start with a good skincare routine, as natural oils present in your skin can cause colour to slip and slide once it is applied. Cleanse well, and ensure moisturiser and other products like eye cream are well-absorbed by the time you come to apply makeup.
Apply a primer
Apply a primer that matches your skin concerns (e.g., mattifying for oily skin, hydrating for dry skin) to help your makeup adhere better and last longer. Dedicated eyelid primers are great as a base if you find eyeshadow wears off too quickly.
Choose long-wear
Choose a long-wearing or matte foundation for a longer-lasting finish and blend well into skin using a dense brush or a damp makeup sponge.
Powder strategically
Powder helps foundation stay in place and prevents shine, but for a more natural, modern finish, try a targeted approach by powdering only areas prone to shine or creasing like the ‘T-Zone’ of forehead, nose and chin.
Fill lips with liner
If you’re wearing one of the new balmy and glossy lip products that enhance the look of lips, outlining lips and then filling them in with a lipliner first will ensure colour lasts and wears off evenly.
Use a makeup setting spray
After you’ve finished applying your makeup, spritz a makeup setting spray over your entire face with your eyes closed and let dry for a few seconds.
