We can all breathe a sigh of relief - beloved natural historian Sir David Attenborough has received the COVID-19 vaccine.

The broadcaster’s representative confirmed the news, although details about when he was vaccinated and which vaccine he was given have not been revealed.

There are currently three vaccines approved in the UK – Oxford-AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna. However, supplies of Moderna will not arrive in Britain until spring.

It comes just days after Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Queen and Prince Philip have also received their first doses of the vaccine.

Attenborough had previously expressed his eagerness to take a COVID-19 vaccine when one became available during an interview with The Telegraph.

“At 94, I think I’m entitled!” he said.

“I’m sufficient of a scientist still, I hope, to realise this is the thing to do.”

Around 1.5 million people in the UK have already received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine.

Those aged over 80 are among high priority groups for receiving the shot.
