The question of whether Queen Elizabeth II should be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize is circulating after numerous politicians proposed Her Majesty is recognised with the prestigious award for her six decades of service to the Commonwealth.
A number of Commonwealth countries will likely raise the proposal at the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in London next week, The Guardian reports.
2019 will mark the Commonwealth’s 70th year. The Queen has continually highlighted the importance of the Commonwealth during her reign, and her special message, read by Prince Charles at the 2018 Opening Ceremony, shows her passion for the initiative. “Over the years, these Friendly Games have shown the potential of the Commonwealth to connect people of different backgrounds and nationalities. In this spirit of cooperation and togetherness, common ground has been established and enduring friendships forged”, Her Majesty’s message reads.
