Shark Attack Survivor Leah Stewart Reunites with Coogee Lifeguards
The survivor of a shark attack at Sydney's Coogee Beach has reunited with the lifeguards who helped save her.

Leah Stewart, 34, was attacked while swimming between the flags at the popular beach on the morning of 13 June.

She was saved thanks to the quick actions of locals and lifeguards who helped pull her from the water and provide first aid.

Stewart shared an image to social media of her reunion with lifeguards who were on the scene, and thanked them for being “literal life savers”.

“Got to meet these absolute legends today,” she wrote.

“Last time we met they were performing CPR and breathing for me, this time we had a big hug and got to hang out at Maroubra surf lifesaving club.”

It comes after Stewart shared her story on 60 Minutes on Sunday night.

She recalled coming face-to-face with the four-metre great white shark, which she repeatedly punched.

She said thoughts of her baby daughter kept her fighting to stay alive.

“In my head, I was like, … ‘You are not taking me away from my daughter’, and I twisted myself around and I just started punching it over and over and over again – it was like fighting a dinosaur”.
