3 seriously simple plant milk recipes
Swap out the dairy with these tasty, healthy and seriously simple oat and nut milk recipes.

With the rise in plant-based eating, plant milk has become a staple in the modern kitchen.

Oat, hazelnut, coconut, and almond – there are loads of delicious ways to make your own dairy-free milk.

We’ve rounded the easiest plant milk recipes for you to try.

 

Oat milk

One of the easiest (and cheapest) alternative milks to make at home, oat milk can be made in a matter of minutes.

Just take 1 cup of rolled oats and 4 cups of water and mix in a blender for around 45 seconds.

Strain through cloth to remove the pulp.

To add a little flavour to your oat milk, you can mix in vanilla, a date or honey.

Coconut milk

Making coconut milk couldn’t be easier. Unlike other homemade nut milks, which require you to soak nuts, coconut milk can be prepared in as little as 10 minutes.

This homemade coconut milk recipe is easy to prepare and adds a beautiful creaminess to soups, smoothies and curries.

Almond milk

Deliciously creamy, almond milk is takes a little more prep than oat and coconut but its still an effortless milk to make.

Soak 1 cup of raw almonds overnight before blending them with 4-5 cups of water (adjust thickness to your preference) for 1-2 minutes. Add a pinch of salt and flavour with dates or vanilla if you like.

Strain through a cloth and your milk is done!

You can substitute almonds for lots of other nuts – like hazelnuts, cashews and macadamia.
