The Lady Dior handbag is a piece with timeless allure. Yet classic as it is, it also provides a wonderful canvas for innovation and creativity.
That’s clear from the Maison’s latest Dior Lady Art Project, where international artists have been given carte blanche to reimagine the handbag.
The project, which has run since 2016, sees artists transpose their vision onto the architectural Lady Dior design.
This year’s ninth edition features artists Sara Flores, Jeffrey Gibson, Huang Yuxing, Liang Yuanwei, Danielle Mckinney, Duy Anh Nhan Duc, Hayal Pozanti, Faith Ringgold, Vaughn Spann, Anna Weyant and Woo Kukwon.
“Translating their unique perspective, extending the narrative of their works, and echoing their values, every reinterpretation is a veritable challenge requiring prodigious prowess,” the Maison said.
“An art of meticulous detail, uniting magic and reality through the prisms of excellence and imagination.
“An alchemical combination of Dior’s heritage and creative freedom, resonating like an ode to passion and the world’s cultures.”
