One of our highlights of the Australian Fashion Week Schedule is seeing Aje’s new collections.
This year it was a captivating ‘Siren’ call for the Australian fashion label collection, naming its Resort 27 collection for its irresistible allure. The collection featured the colours and textures of Australia’s landscape, encapsulating its beauty and variety, from rugged coastlines to the vast outback terrain.
Founded by Adrian Norris and Edwina Forest in 2008, Aje’s signature aesthetic has always been relaxed, ‘undone’ elegance and the collection again underlined this intention. Ensembles played with contrasts, using volume and structure against softer shapes and textures and layering sheer diaphanous pieces with opaque undergarments and denim. Fine sheer organza was undoubtedly the star, but it was joined in places by sequins, feathers, and fringe, never feeling uptight or ott.
The show was held in the recently reopened heritage building The Lands by Capella in Sydney’s CBD.
“We’re incredibly proud to show this collection at home,” said Norris and Forest in a statement following the show. “There’s a unique energy to showing in Australia – the creativity, the community, and the connection to where Aje began. This moment feels both personal and progressive for the brand.”
