Restaurant Month in the Heart of the City
Auckland’s annual feast for the senses is here again and it’s a food lover’s paradise – savour the best cuisine from around the world and sample all that the bars, cafes and markets have to offer.

Restaurant Month returns to Auckland for the seventh year, on August 1. The biggest culinary event of 2017 will again take place in the heart of the city, in celebration of the diverse range of dining opportunities available. From award-winning five-star restaurants to international cuisine and cheap eats, Auckland has earned its reputation as a world-class dining destination. Surrounded by fertile land and rich waters, it’s home to world-class chefs, food producers and winemakers as well as an impressive range of cafés, bars and markets.

Auckland has a diverse gastronomic culture with multiple dining precincts from Britomart, Wynyard Quarter and Viaduct to Federal Street. You’ll find incredible cuisine by top chefs at the helm of award-winning restaurants. Not only does Auckland boast an impressive number of fine-dining establishments, it’s also renowned for its superb wine and features three grape-growing regions, with many internationally lauded vineyards.

New Zealand’s prestigious wine industry began in Auckland and the country’s oldest established vineyards are just a 30-minute drive from the city. Or a half-hour ferry ride will take you to “the island of wine” Waiheke Island, regarded as the jewel of Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf, which boasts more than 30 boutique wineries and vineyards.

DON’T MISS

Street Eats – a diverse line-up of central city restaurants serve up their favourite street food, and more, in a bustling market at Shed 10.  Chef Dining Series – some of the world’s best chefs collaborate with Auckland restaurants each Wednesday throughout August. Chefs and restaurants will be announced on 3 July.

Masu Restaurant

EDITOR’S CHOICE

Much awarded Cassia is just delicious and who doesn’t love a shared plate? Masu never disappoints and we still talk about our staff Christmas dinner there. My new favourite is Amano – hate the wait for a table but it’s worth it. For a great steak, The Grill by Sean Connolly is straight up best beef in town, while breakfast is always a Yodi, pastrami, habanero mustard, grilled swiss cheese with pickle at Best Ugly Bagel. If it’s ice-cream you want, go to the new Giapo, it’s crazy time on a cone. Or for decadent desserts, Milse. All are award-winning restaurants for a great night out in Auckland.

WHERE: 100+ restaurants participating.
