In a new software update available Tuesday – iOS 12.1 – Apple has added 70 fresh new emoji to its library, including new characters with red hair.

Emoji are used by people all over the world to communicate, and with this latest update, there is now even more ways to get your message heard.

Apple says that the new characters have been added to “better represent global users”, including new emoji for moon cake, red gift envelope and nazar amulet.

Sports fans will celebrate the addition of new emoji for softball and lacrosse, while outdoor adventurers will enjoy new characters for luggage, compass and a hiking boot. Beautifully designed characters for the llama, mosquito, kangaroo and lobster are now available.

On the foodie side, we get cupcakes, leafy greens, mango and salt icons for menu uses. Then there’s the bagel emoji, which generated an outcry when its initial plain, cream-cheese-less appearance popped up in Apple’s announcement earlier in October.

There are also two new flags – a UN Flag and Pirate Flag.

Most significantly – and for all you gingers out there who feel under-represented – there is a new selection of red-haired characters to choose from.
