The Friends of Christchurch Art Gallery Auction Event will be held on Friday 16 May, offering art lovers the chance to bid on works by more than 30 contemporary New Zealand artists – all in support of Christchurch’s public art collection.
Held at Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, the event kicks off at 6pm and promises a lively evening of art, eats and drinks.
Works by some of Aotearoa’s best-known artists will be up for auction. MiNDFOOD Editor-in-Chief Michael McHugh is one of the featured artists, contributing a vibrant work aptly titled ‘Family & Friends’ (pictured).
Also among the standout offerings is a special limited-edition artwork created exclusively for the event by celebrated artist Wayne Youle.
Funds raised from the auction will go toward acquiring new works for the Gallery’s collection, helping to enrich Christchurch’s cultural landscape.
Tickets are $70 and can be purchased here.
