Queen breaks silence on Harry and Meghan interview
Buckingham Palace has released a brief statement on behalf of the Queen following Harry and Meghan’s tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The response comes after senior royals held crisis meetings in the wake of the interview going to air.

After the Duke and Duchess of Sussex spoke at length with Winfrey about their mental health struggles due to relentless media coverage, the statement said “the whole family is saddened” to hear of their plight.

The statement also said that issues of race raised by Meghan in the interview “are concerning”.

“While some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family privately,” read the statement.

During the interview, Meghan alleged a member of the royal family had “several conversations” with Harry about “how dark [Archie’s] skin might be when he’s born”, and “what that would mean or look like”.

While Meghan did not name the family member, Prince Harry later clarified that the comments were not made by the Queen or Prince Philip.

The Queen’s statement ended by saying “Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved family members”.
