Whether it’s stargazing, downhill skiing or simply eating out, we all have hobbies and interests we’re keen to explore further when travelling. Now, thanks to new technology from Booking.com, travellers can easily search and uncover destinations relating specifically to what interests them most.
Called “Passion Search”, instead of users searching by location, the platform enables them to search by their passions or hobbies to find the destination that’s most suitable for their interests and needs.
According to Booking.com, this new way of searching is the most comprehensive of its kind in the travel industry.
Passion Search draws on more than 26 million recommendations left by genuine guests who have travelled to, and experienced, the destinations.
There are more than 200 different search options available, starting with the obvious, well-covered options, such as markets, restaurants and walking. But it’s the ability to search by more unique passions that demonstrates the breadth of data available to Booking.com. Think street musicians, truffle hunting and amateur archaeology.
Luke Ashall, Booking.com New Zealand Area Manager, says, “Booking.com is not just about a transaction. We are all about the experience. We can certainly help people find the perfect spot – whether it’s a hotel, a villa or an apartment. But what about the people who have a passion but don’t know where to go? Now we have created technology that can unearth the perfect destination – anywhere in the world.”
