Catherine, Princess of Wales has shared a moving message of solidarity with others who have experienced a cancer diagnosis, on World Cancer Day.

The princess spoke in a personal video message sharing her care and understanding, telling others going through the health challenge: “Please know that you are not alone.”

In a voiceover on the video the princess says a cancer journey has “moments of fear and exhaustion” but also “moments of strength, kindness and profound connection.”

The princess, who is in remission after being diagnosed with cancer in 2024, pointed out how cancer “touches so many lives. Not only patients, but the families and friends and caregivers who walk beside them. As anyone who has experienced this journey will know, it’s not linear”.

On World Cancer Day, she adds the occasion is “a reminder of the importance of care, understanding and hope”.

The video is accompanied by footage of her visiting the Royal Marsden Hospital in London last January, on the day she confirmed she was in remission. Her visit to the hospital where she had undergone months of treatment, was her first solo public engagement since returning to official duties. She has since returned to carrying out regular to public engagements.

In recent times Princess Kate has spoken of the challenges of treatment, but also the rollercoaster she experienced when that phase was completed.

“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment, treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal’, but actually the phase afterwards is really… difficult,” Kate said during a visit to a hospital in Essex, southeast England.

“There is a whole phase when you finish your treatment, everybody expects you to be better – go! But that’s not the case at all,” the Daily Mail reported Kate admitted.
