Prince Harry asks that everyone “just call him Harry” at event in Edinburgh

Prince Harry returned to the UK for one of his first official engagements since announcing he was retiring from his duties. Harry returned to Edinburgh, Scotland to launch his sustainable travel initiative, Travalyst.

At the event, he made it clear he no longer wanted to be referred to by his HRH title. “He’s made it clear that we are all just to call him Harry, so ladies and gentlemen please give a big, warm Scottish welcome to Harry,” said event host Ayesha Hazarika, introducing him on stage.

Led by The Duke of Sussex, Travalyst is a global initiative founded by Booking.com, Skyscanner, Trip.com, TripAdvisor and Visa.

Previously criticised for his use of private jets, Harry opted to fly to Scotland on a commercial flight earlier this week and took an eco-friendly LNER train for London’s King’s Cross station to Edinburgh.

The engagement comes just days after Harry and Meghan announced new details into the transition into new roles. Harry has agreed to drop his royal titles when he officially steps down from his duties on 31 March.

Harry’s next engagement will be visiting Abbey Road Studios to record a song with rock star Jon Bon Jovi for the Invictus Games. Wife Meghan is expected to join him in the UK in the next few days.
