Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s First Official Engagement

Prince Harry and girlfriend Meghan Markle will attend their first official engagement later this month.

The couple will attend the Invictus Games, held in Markle’s current home city, Toronto.

The Invictus Games are an international Paralympic-style multi-sport event founded by Prince Harry in 2014. “The Invictus Games have shown us what can be achieved when wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women rediscover their fighting spirit through sport,” said the Prince. “We have all been inspired.”

The Prince has been protective of his relationship with Markle. In November last year, the Prince released an official statement confirming their relationship. Kensington Palace sources said the Prince feared for the safety of Markle and her family after they were “subjected to a wave of abuse” during newspaper investigations into what – until his statement – had been an unconfirmed relationship.

However, in her recent interview with Vanity Fair, Markle opens up, confirming that dating the Prince has not changed her, the couple are simply “two people who are happy and in love.”

“We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception. Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship,” she said.

“I’m sure there will be a time when we will have to come forward and present ourselves and have stories to tell, but I hope what people will understand is that this is our time. This is for us,” she said.

It sounds like they’ve found their time.

Does this mean they will be coming to Sydney?
