Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Thursday (Dec. 22) evaluated his US visit and said “We are returning from Washington – we are coming with good results. With something that will really help.”
The Ukrainian president traveled to the US on Wednesday on his first foreign visit since the start of Russia’s “special military operation” in February.
“When we say “patriots” in Ukraine and in the United States, we equally mean the protection of the state and people. This issue has been settled for Ukraine. There is financial support too,” said Zelenskyy in a message on Telegram.
In a joint press conference with Zelenskyy at the White House, US President Joe Biden announced a $1.85 billion military aid package for Ukraine, including a Patriot missile defense system.
During his trip, Zelenskyy also addressed the US Congress.
He also noted that on the way home (from the US), he had a meeting with a friend of Ukraine – President of Poland Andrzej Duda.
“We summed up the year, which brought historic challenges due to a full-scale war. Also, we discussed strategic plans for the future, bilateral relations and interactions at the international level in 2023,” Zelenskyy added.
He thanked Duda for his country’s “unwavering and powerful support” for Ukraine, while no information was given on where the two presidents specifically met.
