Early shows at New York Fashion Week drew on preppy chic and Americana vibes.

One of the first off the rank, Ralph Lauren, had a star-studded runway and guest list alike.

The brand’s Spring/Summer 2025 collection was inspired by founder Ralph Lauren’s love of costal getaway The Hamptons, with a collection of men’s and women’s styles dominated by chic and breezy red, white and blue ensembles.

First Lady Jill Biden joined notable guests including Usher, Kacey Musgraves, Laura Dern, Tom Hiddleston, Anna Wintour, and Jude Law.

On the runway, top model Lucky Blue Smith strode out while his TikTok star wife Nara Smith watched on from the audience.

Designer Tommy Hilfiger chose a nautical theme for his collection, holding a show aboard a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry.

The vessel, owned by Colin Jost and Pete Davidson, was chosen to complement the collection which featured relaxed garments like slouchy collegiate sweaters, nautical stripes and crisp, oversized blue shirts.

And at hip NYC fashion label Proenza Schouler, stripes were also in abundance, best across floor sweeping scarf-hem dresses. The brand’s design duo Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez told Vogue they were thinking of sails, but didn’t want the nautical theme to read too literally.

Perhaps it is the influence of a US election year, or that of the recent Olympics and current America’s Cup, but fully red, white or blue outfits and Americana classic shapes like blazers and khakis were also in abundance at Khaite, Coach, Off White and Tory Burch to name a few.
