The couple, known for their impish sense of humour, sent fans wild by posting a photo of the pair donning the exact purple outfits they were famously captured in at their wedding reception.
The Insta-perfect moment recreating the special memory was a playful nod by the couple to mark their 25 wedding anniversary.
“Look what we found,” the couple wrote under a joint Instagram post with a purple heart and a ‘grinning face with sweat emoji,’ commonly used to indicate a cringe or nervous laugh.
Victoria, then widely known as Posh Spice, and the soccer star – also known as Posh and Becks – married on July 4, 1999, in Luttrellstown Castle in Ireland.
The original photos were part of extensive coverage of the wedding published in OK! Magazine.
Showing off the ability to fit into their famous looks with ease, the pair perched upon the gold and velvet thrones that were part of the reception decor.
While she chose a corseted Vera Wang gown for the ceremony, Victoria’s violet-hued, one-shoulder dress was designed by Antonio Berardi and David wore a sharp purple suit in a matching hue.
Memorably, their son Brooklyn, just four months old at the time of the wedding, also wore a purple bib, outfit and cowboy hat. He did not, however, join his parents in the recreated image.
David’s Mother Sandra commented on the new post, saying she couldn’t believe it had been 25 years and declared: “You both still look amazing”.
More recently David Beckham commented on their unconventional and bold reception looks, calling them “very ’90s” in last year’s Beckham documentary.
“I tried to think back to when I decided to wear a purple suit. I don’t know when that happened,” David Beckham says during an interview in the series. “I think I just took Victoria’s lead on it. But what…what were we thinking?”
Victoria, now a successful fashion designer in her own right brushed it off with signature confidence.
“We weren’t worried about what people would say,” she insisted. “I mean, Christ, how lovely to be that way when you just really don’t care.”
