Cinephiles rejoice! A new boutique cinema has arrived in Ponsonby.
Locals may have spotted a big new development at the back of Ponsonby Central, which is now home to a brand new boutique cinema.
Silky Otter Cinemas, which launched their first Auckland cinema in Ōrākei Bay Village two years ago, has opened a four-screen luxury boutique cinema complex.
With a focus on a high-end customer experience, the cinema will feature premium food and beverage offerings and an option to hire out a private cinema space.
“People want that immersive experience, an independent cinema that delivers the best of mainstream, arthouse and film festival content, and crucially, comfort,” says Silky Otter CEO Neil Lambert.
The new cinema addition will no doubt make Ponsonby Central a desirable date-night spot, with the option to dine at one of the many eateries before heading to a movie.
