Non-profit Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) has brighten up our social media feeds with some adorable shots of their newest training pups.
With a mission to help the lives of people with disabilities, CCI trains puppies to become assistance dogs.
Their latest class of trainee puppies took a special flight, with volunteer pilots flying 29 young pups to raisers around the country to begin their training journey.
The volunteer puppy raisers will provide a safe home, take the pups to obedience classes, maintain their diet and provide key socialisation opportunities.
The first two year’s of the dogs lives are spent being trained and socialised before graduating as an assistance dog.
On average, assistance dogs work for eight years, after which they retire to live the rest of their lives as pets.
