A West Australian man has captured the beautiful moment when a lone paddle boarder encountered two Southern Right Whales in the Southern Ocean.
The footage, captured near Esperance, at the base of Western Australia, was taken by local man Jaimen Hudson.
According to the ABC Hudson had heard the whales were enjoying the water off Fourth Beach and headed straight to the beach with his drone. He was lucky enough to capture the moment Dave Price, another local, was approaching the whales on his paddle board.
“There was one time when the whales lifted their heads up looked up over Pricey’s board, they were so inquisitive and wanted to know what he was,”Hudson told the ABC.
At one point in the footage, the paddle boarder and whales are only metres apart but Hudson said he did not believe the encounter was dangerous.
The footage, uploaded at the end of last week, has since been viewed more than 25,000 times.
